Kristin Darby, Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration Chief Information Officer
(US and Canada) The Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration has announced Kristin Darby as the state’s next Chief Information Officer (CIO). She will succeed Stephanie Dedmon, who is set to retire on June 30 after more than two decades in state service.
Finance and Administration Commissioner Jim Bryson recognized Dedmon’s contributions, noting her leadership in advancing the state’s technology strategy, security, and innovation efforts. Dedmon has served as CIO since 2018, overseeing improvements in digital services and operational efficiency.
Darby brings more than 25 years of executive experience across industries including healthcare, finance, cybersecurity, and insurance. She most recently served as CIO at HarmonyCares, leading technology initiatives focused on value-based care. Her previous roles include CIO positions at Envision Healthcare, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, and Vanguard Health Systems/Tenet Healthcare. She has also worked with the Risk Management Foundation of the Harvard Medical Institutions (CRICO).
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Darby holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and management information systems from the University of South Florida and an MBA from Henley Business School. She was inducted into the CIO Hall of Fame in 2021.
Commissioner Bryson expressed confidence in Darby’s ability to continue driving innovation and enhancing technology services for the state.
