Bhagyesh Phanse, Starbucks SVP, Chief Data & Analytics Officer

(US and Canada) Starbucks has promoted Bhagyesh Phanse as SVP, Chief Data & Analytics Officer, from his previous role as Vice President Analytics and Data Science. He will be responsible for leading Starbucks Data & Analytics Hub to develop AI/ML/GenAI Algorithms and provide the enterprise with data, tools, platforms, and governance to enable faster decision-making.

As a proven data leader, Phanse has navigated organizations through significant shifts, leveraging data to drive meaningful change and propel growth. He possesses extensive cross-domain knowledge spanning data governance, supply chain management, marketing analytics, product development, and retail operations. This allows him to offer comprehensive solutions tailored to diverse business needs.

Prior to joining Starbucks, Phanse served as Vice President, Front Store Growth Analytics at CVS Health, where he led an analytics portfolio in pricing, merchandising, marketing, customer lifecycle management, loyalty, omnichannel, and retail media analytics among others. He also previously served as Vice President, Marketing Analytics Solutions at Macy’s, where he led end-to-end teams in data science, marketing technology, media platforms, etc., and owned partnerships with vendors, contractors, and media agencies.

One of Phanse’s key strengths lies in his ability to cultivate high-performing teams from the ground up. He has successfully assembled collaborative teams comprising Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Stewards, and Analysts. His leadership style emphasizes not only strategic vision but also hands-on management, enabling his teams to tackle complex business challenges with agility and precision.

Phanse holds a position on the CDO Magazine Global Editorial Board, showcasing his contributions to the field of data.
