David Hardoon, Standard Chartered Global Head of AI Enablement

(APAC) Standard Chartered has appointed David Hardoon as its new Global Head of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Enablement, effective immediately. This strategic move reflects the Bank’s continued focus on integrating advanced analytics and AI into its operations to drive innovation and stay competitive in the financial sector. Hardoon will be based in Singapore and will report directly to Group Chief Data Officer Mohammed Rahim.

Hardoon brings over two decades of experience in data and AI leadership, having worked across diverse sectors such as banking, consulting, government, and academia. Among his notable achievements is his instrumental role in shaping the AI strategy for the Monetary Authority of Singapore, supporting the promotion of open, cross-border data exchange and encouraging the responsible use of data and AI through the Fairness, Ethics, Accountability and Transparency (FEAT) framework within Singapore’s financial ecosystem.

In his new role, Hardoon will lead efforts to strengthen AI capabilities and governance within the Chief Data Office. He will also be tasked with promoting data analytics initiatives and identifying areas across the Bank where AI can deliver greater efficiency, enhance processes, and enrich client experiences.

Commenting on David’s appointment, Rahim says: “I am thrilled to welcome David to Standard Chartered. As a senior and strategic hire for the Chief Data Office, David will play a critical role in shaping and driving our AI strategy and ambitions, ensuring that we harness the full potential of AI technologies to enhance our client-focused, data-driven services and operations. Given our people-approach to AI, I am confident his leadership will enable us to responsibly leverage AI to deepen our client relationships and further strengthen our ability to meet their cross-border needs.”
