Michael Young, Sony Music Publishing Chief Information Officer
Sony Music Publishing has appointed Michael Young as Chief Information Officer. Young, based in Nashville, will report directly to Chief Financial Officer Tom Kelly.
As CIO, Young will oversee the company’s technology strategy and lead ongoing transformation initiatives aimed at supporting growth, scalability, and efficiency for SMP’s songwriters and music catalogs worldwide. He will work closely across departments to optimize workflows, enhance data-driven insights, and implement best practices in software development, cybersecurity, compliance, and data governance.
Young has over 25 years of executive IT experience across media, financial services, and technology. He most recently served as Chief Product and Technology Officer at Chatham Financial, where he oversaw global product and technology strategy. Prior to that, he held senior roles at Reuters, Paycase Financial, and Afilias.
“I am thrilled to join Sony Music Publishing,” said Young. “As both a technologist and lifelong musician, I look forward to contributing to SMP’s mission-driven culture and supporting songwriters throughout their creative journeys.”
Tom Kelly, CFO of Sony Music Publishing, added, “Michael brings extensive experience in technology leadership. His expertise will help us advance our capabilities and deliver growth for our songwriters globally.”
Jon Platt, Chairman and CEO, commented, “Investing in technology that evolves with our business is central to supporting our songwriters. With Michael on board, we are well-positioned to deliver greater value to our catalogs and creators today and in the future.”
