Chuck Borges, Social Security Administration Chief Data Officer
(US and Canada) The U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) has named Chuck Borges as its new Chief Data Officer. In this capacity, he will lead the Office of Analytics, Review, and Oversight, focusing on enhancing data management, improving customer service, and strengthening critical programs.
Borges shared his excitement about the role in a LinkedIn post, stating, “I can think of nowhere I would rather be at this time in our country’s history than at the SSA: solving crucial data and information challenges, improving customer experiences, and supporting the development of an innovative organization.”
Before joining SSA, Borges held several leadership positions at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where he contributed to data-driven decision-making and played a key role in the Public Health Data Modernization Initiative. He also served as a White House Presidential Innovation Fellow, working on federal data initiatives.
Borges brings a wealth of experience from his 20-year career in the U.S. Navy, where he specialized in data analytics and technology implementation. He previously served as Chief Data Officer for Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and Military Director of Analytics for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Astronomy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in Aeronautics from the University of Tennessee, and an MBA from the University of Maryland. Additionally, he has earned certifications as a Certified Scrum Product Owner, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, and Certified Data Management Professional.
