(US and Canada) We are pleased to welcome Scott Richardson to CDO Magazine’s Global Editorial Board. Richardson is Chief Data and Analytics Officer at First Citizens Bank. Joining the bank in late 2024, Richardson is the organization’s senior leader for data, analytics, and AI. His responsibilities span data and analytics strategy, enterprise data and data products, customer 360° data management, data governance and data stewardship, data lifecycle management, business intelligence, enterprise analytics, and AI.

Previously, Richardson served as CIO of Enterprise Data, Analytics, and AI for Ally Financial (2018–2024), where he was responsible for data and analytics strategy, platforms, engineering, data governance, business intelligence, advanced analytics, and enterprise AI strategy, platforms, and transformation.

From 2014–2018, Richardson served as Senior Vice President and Chief Data Officer at Fannie Mae, where he led a large organization focused on data strategy, data governance, data management, data engineering, data & analytics platforms, and technology and business operations for all things data. He was also an executive champion for the firm’s innovation and Lean-Agile capabilities.

Prior to this, Richardson was Vice President of Retail and Direct Technology at Capital One, where he led technology for retail consumer and small business banking with end-to-end responsibility for new deposit product development, lending infrastructure, and merchant technology. Before joining Capital One, he founded and led two technology consulting firms specializing in financial systems software and data development. Early in his career, he was a consultant and manager with Price Waterhouse, performing and leading financial management system implementations in the United States and more than 20 countries abroad.

Richardson has a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Bucknell University, a Master of Science in engineering management (systems engineering) from The George Washington University, a Master of Banking certificate from Louisiana State University, and has completed executive leadership programs at Harvard and MIT.
