Saul Van Beurden, Wells Fargo Co-CEO Consumer Bank & Lending and Head of Artificial Intelligence
Wells Fargo & Company has appointed Saul Van Beurden, Co-CEO of Consumer Banking and Lending, to lead the company’s AI initiatives. In this expanded role, Van Beurden will oversee AI strategy and implementation across Wells Fargo while continuing to co-lead the Consumer Banking and Lending business alongside Kleber Santos, who has taken on broader responsibilities.
The Co-CEO structure formalizes the existing collaboration between Van Beurden and Santos, aimed at delivering a seamless experience for consumers, and allows Van Beurden to dedicate significant time to advancing AI initiatives across the organization.
On LinkedIn, Van Beurden shared: “I’m excited to lead Artificial Intelligence for Wells Fargo, and partner with Kleber Santos as co-CEOs of Wells Fargo’s new Consumer Banking and Lending team. Together, we’ll deliver an even better experience for our customers and colleagues and help to shape the future of our combined businesses!”
Chairman and CEO Charlie Scharf highlighted Wells Fargo’s commitment to generative and agent-driven AI, noting the company’s investments in technical infrastructure, employee training, and deployment of AI tools to more than 180,000 desktops. He emphasized that Van Beurden will partner with business leaders to drive AI-enabled transformation and ensure measurable progress across the company, adding that advances in AI present a unique opportunity to transform operations and enhance outcomes for employees, customers, and communities.
