(US and Canada) We are pleased to welcome Richard Patterson to CDO Magazine’s Global Editorial Board. Patterson is the Chief Data Officer of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which he joined in 2019 to establish the enterprise data management program. In addition to his initial responsibilities of strategy, analytics, and coordination of data management activities across the Security Cooperation community, Patterson is currently establishing an artificial intelligence program and capability at the agency.

A proven data executive, Patterson has over 25 years of experience transforming data into information to improve decision making and drive operational efficiencies. He has been an employee of and a consultant to Fortune 500 companies and the federal government. His areas of expertise include data governance, metadata, analytics, and data visualization. He focuses his skills on developing new capabilities, delivering value to end users, and building coalitions within and across organizations.

Patterson earned both his Master’s in Computer Science and Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Georgia, and his Master’s in Business Administration from George Mason University.
