(US and Canada) QBE North America has appointed Sherman Cooper as Head of Data. In this role, Cooper leads QBE NA’s Data Organization and is responsible for creating and implementing the organizational data strategy, advancing data and analytics capabilities to drive business outcomes, and fostering innovation in data productization and usage across the company.

Cooper brings nearly two decades of expertise in big data strategy, data management across cloud and hybrid ecosystems, and robust data governance. His experience extends to harnessing advanced predictive and explanatory analytics, data science, and AI/ML technologies to generate actionable insights that drive impactful business outcomes and enhance client experiences. He is a strategic digital technologist, expert data scientist, data thought leader, and data privacy expert, as well as a quantitative economist.

Before joining QBE North America, Cooper was Managing Director, Big Data and Data Science Platform Leader at Marsh. He was responsible for delivering products and solutions to transform client experience through digital data and analytics.

Cooper began his career advising senior leaders at more than 10 U.S. consumer banks and U.S. financial regulatory agencies, including the OCC, the FED, the CFPB, and the FDIC, on using data-driven financial inclusion. He later served as Vice President of Data Engagement, Data Strategy, and Management at Mastercard, where he led the global development and operationalization of strategic positions on data-related issues. During his tenure, he oversaw Mastercard’s Data Responsibility program to ensure ethical, consumer-centric data innovation across the company’s products, solutions, and services portfolios.
