Dennis Sutterfield, Penn State Health SVP and Chief Information Officer
Penn State Health has named Dennis Sutterfield as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Sutterfield will oversee the strategic and operational direction of the organization’s information technology enterprise.
His responsibilities include leading the transition to Epic as the health system’s electronic health record and revenue cycle management platform, managing informatics, data and analytics, health information management, and clinical engineering, as well as driving digital transformation initiatives, strengthening cybersecurity, and aligning technology projects with organizational goals.
“Throughout his career, Dennis has demonstrated exceptional skill in leading complex digital transformations, optimizing IT operations, and building high-performing, service-oriented teams,” said Dr. Michael Kupferman, CEO of Penn State Health. “His strategic vision and collaborative approach have consistently delivered measurable improvements in efficiency, cost savings, and clinical support.”
Sutterfield brings over 20 years of experience in healthcare technology leadership, most recently serving as vice president and CIO at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University.
He succeeds Bill Reed, who served as interim CIO. His appointment completes Penn State Health’s executive leadership team following the recent additions of Kyle Snyder as president and chief operating officer, and Tracy Moyer as executive vice president and chief financial officer.
