Global healthcare major Novo Nordisk has named Anja Leth Zimmer Chief AI Officer. She will lead the company’s enterprise AI agenda, focused on leveraging data and AI to drive meaningful impact and improve patient outcomes worldwide.

Zimmer wrote on LinkedIn, “Across my career, I’ve worked at the intersection of emerging technologies and large‑scale digital transformation. Doing this with AI – at this scale, and with this level of ambition – is profoundly inspiring. Ultimately, it’s about using data and AI to drive real change and improve the lives of patients around the world. I take on this role with humility – and with strong confidence that our company, built on more than a century of science and data‑driven innovation, will responsibly leverage AI to deliver even better outcomes for the people we serve.”

She brings extensive experience at the intersection of emerging technologies and large-scale digital transformation. Prior to becoming Chief AI Officer, Zimmer served as Corporate Vice President, Digital Products & Software Engineering, and GVP, Enterprise AI at Novo Nordisk, where she led digital product engineering and enterprise AI initiatives. Earlier, she was Corporate Vice President, Executive Strategy & Data Office, overseeing digital and data strategy, the Global Data Office, enterprise architecture, and IT governance.

Before joining Novo Nordisk in 2022, Zimmer spent eight years at Carlsberg Group, holding senior leadership roles across digital products, global commercial IT operations, and the CIO Office. She began her career at Deloitte Consulting, leading large-scale digital and IT transformation programs for global organizations.
