M&T Bank has named Sonney Singh Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Commercial Banking. Singh shared the career move in a LinkedIn post after concluding a 23-year career with HSBC.

In the role, Singh will lead technology for M&T Bank’s Commercial Banking business. He said his initial focus will be on listening, learning, building strong relationships, and helping teams deliver meaningful outcomes for customers and communities.

Most recently, Singh served as Head of US and Canada CIB and Core Banking at HSBC Bank USA. Earlier, he was Wholesale CIO US at HSBC Bank USA and Regional Head of Core Banking – US at HSBC.

Reflecting on the appointment, Singh said, “Having called Western New York home for more than two decades, this opportunity holds special meaning for me and my family. M&T’s strong commitment to its customers, communities, and colleagues, combined with its rich history and culture, makes this an exciting next chapter.”
