Miruna Sasu, Novartis US Chief Data Officer

Miruna Sasu is stepping into a new leadership role at global healthcare major Novartis as US Chief Data Officer. Sasu shared the update in a recent LinkedIn post.

“I’ve always believed that data is the quiet force behind every medical breakthrough. At Novartis US, I’m eager to help build a global data ecosystem that scientists can trust, that R&D teams can rely on with confidence, and one that helps bring new medicines to patients faster without compromising safety,” she wrote.

Sasu joins Novartis following her tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer of COTA, a healthcare technology company focused on real-world data in oncology. She previously served as COTA’s Chief Strategy Officer before becoming CEO in 2022.

Her career spans leadership roles at major pharmaceutical companies, including Johnson & Johnson, where she led Clinical Trial Feasibility and Data Science, and Bristol Myers Squibb, where she oversaw innovation and global biometrics operations.

In her new role at Novartis, Sasu will lead data strategy and governance across the US organization, focusing on building data-driven capabilities to accelerate research, development, and patient outcomes.
