Maryland Insurance Administration Appoints Brent Matthewson as CDO

Brent Matthewson, Maryland Insurance Administration Chief Data Officer

The Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) has appointed Brent Matthewson as its inaugural Chief Data Officer. In this newly created role, Matthewson will oversee the agency’s data strategy, management, and analytics initiatives.

Matthewson brings more than 20 years of experience leading data and analytics in the healthcare, financial services, and retail energy sectors. Most recently, he served as Chief Data Officer at WellStar Health System, where he led the modernization of the organization’s data operations into a fully integrated, cloud-based enterprise.

He has expertise in business intelligence, machine learning, predictive modeling, data management, credit risk, channel optimization, and segmentation. Matthewson is also experienced in leading high-performing teams, including onshore and offshore third-party resources, and in conveying complex analytical and technology concepts to executive leadership.
