Kartik Sakthivel, John Hancock CIO
Kartik Sakthivel, Ph.D., has joined John Hancock as Chief Information Officer. John Hancock, a unit of Toronto-based Manulife Financial Corporation, provides insurance, wealth management, and financial services to individuals and businesses in the United States.
As a member of the Global Technology and US leadership teams, Sakthivel is responsible for technology strategy and architecture, as well as supporting product design and delivery, operational excellence, and optimizing transformation and value creation.
Prior to joining John Hancock, Sakthivel served as the Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer for LIMRA LOMA and LL Global, a non-profit worldwide trade association for the financial services industry. He has held leadership roles in companies of all sizes, ranging from small and midsize firms to Fortune 100 organizations across multiple industries. Sakthivel has authored several books on AI and business leadership and speaks frequently on these topics.
Sakthivel holds a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science (with a focus on information quality and a dissertation on best practices for AI) and a graduate certificate in Information Quality from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He also received a Master’s Degree in Computer Information Systems/IT and an M.B.A. from Southern New Hampshire University.
