IonQ Names Katie Arrington Chief Information Officer

IonQ, a leading developer of quantum computing hardware and software, has appointed Katie Arrington as Chief Information Officer. She will oversee the protection and modernization of IonQ’s global enterprise systems, safeguard digital assets and supply chains, and strengthen operational and cyber resilience across the company’s rapidly expanding footprint.

Arrington brings extensive experience in business development, management, and government technology, with expertise in strategic planning, brand management, team-building, operations, and project leadership. She has a strong background in the Department of Defense sector, developing new revenue pipelines, fostering strategic relationships, performing competitive analysis, and leveraging digital tools to expand market presence.

Joining IonQ reflects a continued mission Arrington has championed throughout her career — ensuring U.S. warfighters, government agencies, and industry have access to the world’s most advanced, secure technology.

Prior to IonQ, Arrington served in executive and technology leadership roles including PTDO CIO at the Department of War, DoD CIO at the United States Department of Defense, senior vice president of external affairs and vice president of government affairs at Exiger, and owner of LD Innovations, LLC, a cybersecurity firm. She has also held leadership positions at Dispersive Technologies, Benefitfocus, Centuria, and Booz Allen Hamilton, driving business development, capture management, cybersecurity, and technology operations.

In addition to her private-sector roles, Arrington served as a U.S. House Representative for South Carolina’s District 94 and ran as a Congressional candidate for SC-1, highlighting her commitment to public service and national security.

Throughout her career, Arrington has combined technical expertise with strategic vision, consistently delivering results in business development, contract acquisition, and operational leadership while advancing secure, innovative technology solutions for both government and industry.
