Great American Insurance Group Promotes Joseph Kowaleski to SVP and CIO

Joseph Kowaleski, Great American Insurance Group SVP and CIO

(US and Canada) Great American Insurance Group, a prominent insurance company that offers a wide range of insurance products and services to individuals and businesses, has recently announced the promotion of Joseph (Joe) R. Kowaleski to the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

He assumed the role earlier this month, succeeding James (Jim) R. Niehaus, who retires in January 2024 after over 16 years of dedicated service to the company.

Kowaleski, who joined the company in 2017 and most recently served as Divisional Senior Vice President, overseeing IT infrastructure and corporate applications, now leads the company’s strategic IT direction. Before joining Great American, he held various leadership roles in the field of IT at an American multinational information technology company.

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Michigan and a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
