Ryan Duffy, BMO U.S. Chief Data and Analytics Officer
Bank of Montreal (BMO) has appointed Ryan Duffy as its new U.S. Chief Data and Analytics Officer, Head of Data Commercialization, joining the Enterprise Technology and Operations division. Duffy will lead the bank’s enterprise data strategy, data capabilities, and governance initiatives, while also identifying opportunities to drive growth through advanced technologies and data-driven insights.
Duffy brings a wealth of experience in data management and governance, with a proven track record of establishing chief data offices at major financial institutions. His expertise lies in helping organizations manage, qualify, and access trusted data to solve complex business challenges, particularly within the highly-regulated financial services sector.
Prior to joining BMO, Duffy spent over a decade at EY, where he led Financial Services Data Management and Data Governance. As a trusted advisor to C-suite executives, he specialized in partnering with Chief Data Officers and Enterprise Data Management teams to design and implement domain-based, enterprise-wide data governance frameworks that capitalize on both the offensive and defensive posture to data management. His work included establishing policies, controls, and compliance structures to ensure data integrity, security, and privacy that enable AI-ready data tailored to the financial industry’s regulatory landscape.
Duffy holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Elon University and is recognized for his strategic leadership in data commercialization and transformation at scale and for being a sound voice and presence within the data community.
