Aviva, a UK-based multinational insurance, wealth, and retirement provider, has tapped Chris Cochrane as its next Group Chief Information Officer, effective summer 2026. He currently serves as Group Chief Information Technology Officer at M&G and will succeed John Cummings, who is retiring.

Cochrane brings extensive experience in senior technology leadership roles. Prior to joining M&G, he served as Chief Information Officer at BT Global Services and as CIO of Service Delivery at Openreach.

Amanda Blanc, Group Chief Executive Officer of Aviva, described the hire as an important appointment for the company, citing Cochrane’s experience and leadership as Aviva continues to drive growth and deliver for customers and investors. She also thanked John Cummings for his service and wished him well in his retirement.

“Aviva is a company I admire hugely, and one which is performing strongly. I am excited to be joining Amanda and her colleagues and playing my part in helping continue to drive the momentum which the business has across the insurance, wealth and retirement sectors,” Cochrane said.
