Alight Solutions, a global provider of cloud-based human capital and business solutions, has welcomed Shawn Tumanov as Head, AI Governance. He joins the company in March to help steer its transformation into an AI-first, data-centric organization.

Tumanov is a strategic leader who believes technology is only as powerful as the trust behind it. His approach is rooted in the idea of “Trust by design” — treating governance not as a hurdle, but as a competitive edge that builds client confidence and speeds up innovation.

With over two decades in the field, Tumanov has built a reputation for being a pragmatic partner to the C-suite. He excels at building governance frameworks from scratch, a skill he put to work launching Data and AI programs for GEICO (Berkshire Hathaway) and BMO. Most recently, he collaborated with Meta’s Global Finance team to align their AI initiatives with financial integrity and reporting standards (ICFR/SOX).

Tumanov’s perspective is uniquely shaped by his early career as a federal bank regulator with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). That “insider” view allows him to turn complex oversight into a steady foundation for growth. Beyond his executive roles, he serves on the CDO Magazine Global Board and was recognized as one of Chicago’s Top 25 Data Leaders.

A lifelong learner, Tumanov holds an MBA, is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and has completed his Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) certification. He is currently deepening that expertise through ISACA’s Advanced in AI Risk (AAIR) program.
