Ahold Delhaize USA has appointed Vipin Gopal as Senior Vice President, where he will serve as the Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer for its U.S. businesses. In this capacity, he will report to Chief Information Officer Ann Dozier.

In the role, Gopal will oversee the company’s data, analytics, and AI strategy, with a focus on embedding data-driven decision-making and AI capabilities more deeply across the organization. His responsibilities include advancing enterprise data foundations, accelerating the responsible use of AI, and supporting broader value creation aligned with the company’s Growing Together strategy.

According to the announcement, his appointment is intended to strengthen Ahold Delhaize USA’s digital, data, and technology modernization efforts, including the development of a stronger data center of excellence to support customers, brands, and associates.

Gopal brings more than 25 years of experience leading data, analytics, and AI transformations across large organizations. Prior to joining Ahold Delhaize USA, he served as Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Eli Lilly and Company and Walgreens Boots Alliance, where he led enterprise-wide data and AI strategy and modernization of data platforms and advanced analytics capabilities.

He has also held senior leadership positions at Humana, Cigna, United Technologies Corporation, and Honeywell. In addition, Gopal serves on the Board of Directors of Concentra, a U.S.-based occupational health services company.

Vipin Gopal holds a position on the CDO Magazine Global Board, reflecting his contributions to the field of data.
