Jacky Cheong, AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad Chief Data Officer
AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad, the Malaysian subsidiary of the Japan-based AEON Group, has appointed Ts Jacky Cheong as Chief Data Officer. He announced the move in a LinkedIn post, sharing his new role at the financial services company.
Cheong brings over 20 years of experience in enterprise AI, data strategy, governance, and management, with a global track record spanning more than 40 countries across five continents. He has led large-scale data and information governance programs, managing investments exceeding USD 135 million.
Before joining AEON Credit Service, Cheong most recently served as Head of Enterprise Data Governance at Celcomdigi (previously known as Celcom Axiata). He also held senior leadership roles internationally, including Director of Asset Data & Digital Transformation at Royal Bank of Canada, General Manager – Data at A.P. Moller – Maersk in Denmark, Head of APAC – Chief Data Office at GE Power (previously known as Alstom Power), and earlier roles in SAP Consulting.
Cheong is widely recognized as a thought leader in data governance and AI, having presented at international forums such as the APAC DATA2030 Conference. He has also been honored with multiple industry awards, including the Japan & APAC Chief Data Officer Award (2021), Global Innovation Honoree Award (2021), Malaysia Technology Excellence Award (2022), and the OpenGov Recognition of Excellence Award (2023).
