(US and Canada) The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently appointed Hengyi Hu, Ph.D., as Chief Data Analytics Officer.

Hu is a proven data expert with more than 15 years of experience. He is a data scientist and subject matter expert in advanced analytics, performance management, and strategic planning. Hu has extensive experience managing complex, data-driven projects within the federal government and specializes in leading cross-disciplinary teams, improving complex systems and processes, implementing/managing policies, and advising senior executives.

Prior to his current role, Hu was a Program Analyst at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He served as a data analyst and subject matter expert in the Strategic Solutions Office within the Office of the Chief Procurement Officer. His primary duties included leading in-depth analysis of DHS-wide and government-wide category management spending, creating and standardizing performance metrics, revamping specialized procurement reports and procurement reporting systems, leading cross-agency collaborations for innovative data-driven decision making in category management, and advising executives and other SMEs across multiple agencies.
