Mutual of Omaha Promotes Brian Poppe as Chief Data Officer

(US and Canada) Mutual of Omaha, a Fortune 500 mutual insurance and financial services company, has named Brian Poppe as Chief Data Officer. He leads the enterprise-wide data and information strategy in his new role, including building a cloud-based data and analytic platform, advancing data and analytics capabilities to enable actionable insights, and maturing machine learning capabilities.

Poppe is an entrepreneurial, innovative executive with extensive experience in financial services. He is highly skilled in overseeing daily operations and directing cross-functional teams. He joined Mutual of Omaha in 2009 and has held a number of actuarial positions. Before his current role, Poppe was the Senior Vice President of Technology Modernization in Information Services.

“As Chief Data Officer, I’m excited to lead our efforts to make data more secure, more accurate, and easier to use than ever before. This will result in better customer experiences and better financial outcomes so that we can continue to serve more customers for years to come,” Poppe said.

Poppe holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) and has earned the designations of Fellow and Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst from the Society of Actuaries.
