(US and Canada) We are pleased to welcome Alex Tait to CDO Magazine’s Global Editorial Board. Tait is the U.S. Chief Data and Analytics Officer and Head of Data and Analytics Governance at BMO Financial Group.

As Head of Data and Analytics Governance, Tait supports and is accountable for the maintenance and evolution of strong data management and Analytics practices across the bank. As the U.S. CDAO, he ensures BMO’s various Data and Analytics functions align with strong data governance practices and provides thought leadership throughout the organization to accelerate business outcomes.  

Tait has over 25 years of experience in data, technology, and business management within Financial Services. He began his career at the Royal Bank of Canada in 1997, initially in a client-facing leadership role in the Personal & Commercial Bank division, with increasingly senior roles in technology and data across the Bank’s Wealth Management and Capital Markets businesses during his 19 years with the organization. More recently, he led the Data Operations and Data Sourcing function at CPP Investments (a US$500 billion+ asset manager).

In terms of his academic background, Tait holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Bishop’s University. He is also a certified Financial Information Associate.
