USAA started its cloud migration journey about a couple of years ago, and Abbas says it was a unique opportunity to reduce the footprint of silos and increase the benefits of logical data architectures and the data fabric.

USAA is a company of companies across various environments. So, migrating to the cloud and taking advantage of the data fabric and logical data architecture helped in deconstructing silos and avoiding data replication.

Abbas explains that data quality management simplifies data, creates more precise lines of accountability and information governance, and reduces the cost of maintenance because of the reduced physical footprint.

He shares his views on technology use cases on the operational side of retail banking. He says technologies can help mitigate complaints and the risks of creating too many hops for a member through the contact centers. They can help understand the intent of calls and route them to the right places, increasing satisfaction among members.
