Jean Loup Loyer, Eramet’s Chief Data and Analytics Officer, discusses with Michal Sieczko, Lingaro’s Business Development Director, how a combination of aerospace, industrial PhD, and microjob experience helped him align his role as chief data and analytics officer. Aerospace engineering provided him with a strong quantitative background that prepared him for analytics; being from an engineering background equipped him for concepts of heavy industry; and an industrial PhD in data science solidified his background by introducing him to Anton programming skills, coding, and cloud.
He explains how his current position as a CDO differs from the norm and how, as a chief data analytics officer, he is in charge of both the governance and analytics to ensure data properly controls the company model using the combined approach. His job and team are organized into three zones: project management, analytics readiness, and data governance. As a data leader, he has to ensure that the priorities of the company’s different directions, services, and departments are aligned.
