VIDEO | Crowe Advanced Analytics Leader: Tools Won't Fix Your Data for You

(US and Canada) Egor Sadovnic, Crowe Advanced Analytics Leader, speaks with Jason Masker, Stratascale Field Chief Technology Officer, in a video interview about the role of diagnostic analytics and ways an organization can become less reactive and more proactive.

Sadovnic says that some organizations employ descriptive analytics but do not define it well enough to be meaningful. He mentions that the foundation of descriptive analytics is followed by diagnostic capabilities, which are about inward opportunities to reduce waste.

He explains that diagnostic analytics includes initiatives such as internal audit testing, purchasing alignment, quality of AP and AR ledgers, financials, and ensuring that the balance ties to a financial modeling perspective.

Sadovnic continues, maintaining that many disparate pieces are readily available for automated testing. He says Crowe is an expert at creating advisory audit assurances and solutions that can help organizations diagnose problems before they happen, helping them become less reactive and more proactive. The more they tap into internal-facing testing, the more they can preempt problems, Sadovnic points out.

Sharing advice for organizations looking to up their pace in this direction, Sadovnic highlights a couple of action areas:

  1. Improve the foundation first rather than initially focusing on data availability and quality.

  2. Look for BI leaders internally, try to elevate them, and give them the resources needed to build capabilities internally.
