CDO Mag Brigette Guyer Part 3 of 4

(US and Canada) Brigette Guyer, Director of Data Governance at The Wendy’s Company, speaks with Kellie de Leon, Senior Director of Content Marketing at Treasure Data, in a video interview about support from the C-suite, future-proofing a data governance strategy, and the intersection of data governance, privacy, and digital transformation.

The Wendy’s Company’s C-suite, Guyer says, has become increasingly interested and aware of compliance requirements and how the data team can help them achieve their goals. They are also interested in aspects such as ESG and consumers’ data privacy and security expectations.

How can organizations future-proof their data governance strategy? Guyer says that governance and privacy management cannot be policies only. The governance strategy needs to be effective and operational. She adds that it needs to be dynamic in continuing to work with the business and technology while being relevant to the business and partners.

Continuing, Guyer offers advice on data privacy and governance for organizations at the beginning of their digital transformation journeys. She urges them to go back to the business objectives of digital transformation to drive discussions showing how data governance and privacy fit into digital transformation.

Guyer also asserts that governance or any privacy-related technical solutions or processes should be built into digital transformation by design. The integration will lead to foundational trust in the data. The data is needed to make sound business decisions, she adds.

In conclusion, Guyer says that digital transformation is at a crossroads with data governance and privacy management, and it requires establishing influence with business leaders.

CDO Magazine appreciates Brigette Guyer for sharing her insights and data success stories with our global community.
