Do you see any trade-off between innovation and standardization? Can you give me an example?

“I can’t do standardization with our ‘bring your own device,’ I have to support everything that’s out there, every phone and tablet. That puts more of a burden on IT, but it really helps with productivity. We will buy standard laptops for everyone, configure them all exactly the same, and no one gets administrative privileges so that we’re not hunting down viruses. So that’s standardization to prevent people from innovating with viruses! I like standardization for those basic things.”
