(US and Canada) Ranjan Sinha, IBM Fellow, VP & Chief Technology Officer, IBM Global Chief Data Office, speaks with technology leader Virendra Dafane about the need for good data for implementing automation and IBM’s approach to bringing products to the market.

Given today's fast-paced digital and AI transformation, Sinha says that automation is key to scaling and optimizing business operations. While hybrid cloud and AI are the platforms and the tools to accomplish this, trusted data is the driving force.

He explains that ensuring the correct data and AI foundations are in place is necessary to build trust in new AI-driven technologies. Hence, data must be accurate, accessible, governed, secure, privacy-respected and relevant. He further stresses that organizations must recognize that it takes a holistic approach to manage and oversee AI solutions across the entire life cycle. Sinha shares that IBM's approach to bringing new technology solutions to the market is built on five focus areas: transparency, explainability, robustness, fairness and privacy.

Sinha maintains that change management cannot be underestimated in transformation. Organizations need to reskill the workforce and ignite talent. They also need to balance compliance with frictionless customer and employee experiences, Sinha concludes.
