VIDEO | Fair Haven Community Healthcare Data Director: A Modern Platform Must Be Able To Ingest Data

(US and Canada) Anthony Brockman, Fair Haven Community Healthcare Data Director, speaks with Savio Rodrigues, Trianz VP of Client Partnership USA and CDO Magazine Editorial Board Member, in a video interview about the impact of tracking platforms in health care, incorporating analytics technology, characteristics of a modern analytics platform for business transformation, and how to increase an organization’s technology adoption rates.

Brockman shares that he worked as a part-timer at the radiology file records office. After Yale New Haven Health System bought the company, he began working for the corporate office.

Regarding the impact of tracking platforms in health care, Brockman highlights contact tracing during the pandemic to help stem the infection rates. He notes that health care organizations use tracking in real-time location services. Brockman adds that hospitals can increase patient and provider safety cost-effectively by using these tracking technologies.

He suggests the following technologies for impact:

  1. Use an advanced BI Platform, Tableau, and implement automation capabilities while socializing them with the business users.
  2. Adopt a ticketing system to understand the type of requests for data and analytics ingested by an organization.

According to Brockman, a modern data and analytics platform must be able to ingest data regardless of where it is, should refine the raw material into actionable information with reasonable speed to value, depending on the industry, and invest 80% of its time in data analysis and 20% in cleaning. He notes that advanced analytics and data science enable statistical models to do predictive modeling within the system.

Brockman adds that using embedded analytics in a modern system also adds massive value to the business. He maintains that collaboration is necessary; an organization becomes powerful through its collaborating abilities.

He says there are two types of technology customers — the business users and the data-analytics people. A modern analytics platform must have a technology that supports both groups to yield end-to-end business transformation.

In conclusion, Brockman states that communication and understanding the organizational culture are critical for implementing strategies successfully. Brockman adds that to get people excited about adopting new technologies, a leader must show that it will be successful.
