DHS Promotes Mike Horton as Chief Data Officer

(USA and Canada) Mike Horton has been recently promoted as Chief Data Officer at US Department of Homeland Security. Horton’s role as CDO comes with a dual role as Senior Advisor for the DHS Data Governance Council, a senior-leadership governance body that will mature Enterprise Data Management across the Department. Horton has been with the DHS for 16+ years holding various senior executive roles.

As the new Chief Data Officer of DHS, Horton is set to lead the office with a mission-first approach in understanding data flows among the agency and its mission. He is also tasked to help strengthen the management and oversight of enterprise data within DHS for the effective and efficient mission delivery, advance integrated analytic capabilities, reduce duplicate data, and facilitate data-informed decision making.

Mike Horton’s dual role as Chief Data Officer and Senior Advisor of DHS will continue to reinforce the data-driven strategies of the department.
