Angelique Augereau, Capital One, US Card CAO, Joins CDO Magazine Global Editorial Board

(US and Canada) We are pleased to welcome Angelique Augereau to CDO Magazine’s Global Editorial Board. Augereau is Chief Analytics Officer at Capital One, US Card and in her role, she has delivered substantial annual value and a path to sustained growth.

Augereau developed and executed Capital One’s first ML strategy and innovation agenda, and drove impact through better credit decisions (approve/decline and line assignment), improved cure rates, and opex reductions through fraud detection, servicing, and marketing efficiency. She has cultivated a high-performance, high-engagement culture by recruiting the leadership team, and then developing over 40 leaders through deep and sustained investments in coaching and leadership development.

As a leader, Augereau delivered sustainable growth and profitability by unlocking innovative opportunities in Fortune 500 companies (JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Capital One), tech startups, and private equity. She has a demonstrated track record across five industries of building new businesses and products that harness data-driven intelligence, delivering material commercial outcomes across the value chain, and developing new capabilities and cultures.

Previously, Augereau worked with global private equity firm Apax Partners to reimagine the private equity deal lifecycle through the use of AI and advanced analytics. She built a tech-driven partner ecosystem of portfolio CEOs, leaders, and deal teams committed to driving value creation.

As a Managing Director in JPMorgan’s over US$9 billion Global Payments Business, Augereau built a data-driven innovation unit and pioneered the firm’s first ‘Artificial Intelligence Products with User-Centered Design’ and built and scaled an integrated team of product managers, designers, data scientists, and engineers.

Before joining JPMorgan, Augereau consulted with Fortune 500 companies, creative agencies, and startups on strategy, business, and product development initiatives. Her clients included JPMorgan, Target, Estée Lauder, Universal McCann, Mother, and several innovative startups.

Prior to her consulting stint, she worked at McKinsey managing engagements in Tokyo, Mumbai, Sao Paulo, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco. Augereau also worked with Archetype Solutions and became President and co-founder of its spin-off, Zafu, Inc. She led the development and monetization of systems that leveraged machine learning to provide retail customers with apparel recommendations at scale. This revolutionary product was 10 years ahead of its time – a precursor to today’s popular online personal styling services such as Stitch Fix. Zafu has been featured in the New York Times and ranked as a 2010 Time Magazine Top 10 Site.

Augereau holds a Ph.D. in Economics and Strategy from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of British Columbia. She has taken the Design Thinking Executive Education program at Stanford University’s d.school. She has published articles and is an advisor to the Kellogg School of Management’s MBAi program.
