The Sheridan at Mason, opening this fall, offers an innovative approach to senior living while providing the same best-in-class customized care the five other Senior Lifestyle communities in Greater Cincinnati are already known for, says Stuart Solomon, executive director.

The new community consists of 68 assisted living units and 33 memory care units. Residents will enjoy several common areas including a bar, bistro and grand parlor. Amenities include chef-prepared meals and beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces.

"What sets us apart from our sister communities – Seasons, Evergreen, the Barrington at Oakley, the Barrington at West Chester and Carriage Court of Kenwood – and our competitors is that we’re very technology-oriented," Solomon says. "That doesn’t take away from our personal connection with our assisted living and memory care residents, but allows us to be more pro-active in ensuring their good health and well-being."

The Sheridan at Mason, for example, uses the Skynet real time responsive care program – a computerized resident wristband tracking system – designed to meet the needs of assisted living residents.

"We can track residents’ movements, and our staff is immediately alerted if someone falls so we can instantaneously help ailing residents," Solomon says. "Or let’s say a family member calls their loved one, but there is no answer. Where’s Mom? With Skynet, we can immediately pinpoint where she is, whether she is at our hair salon or enjoying one of our activities. Ultimately, what Skynet does is give residents’ family members peace of mind they won’t find anywhere else. People entrust us with their loved ones, and we want to give them the best care possible."

Additionally, an app offered through Sagely, a digital health company focused on keeping seniors happy, healthy and connected yet independent, follows a resident’s activity calendars, tracking participation and engagement levels.

"Let’s say you want to make sure Dad is remaining active, but when you ask him, ‘What did you do today?’ he answers either ‘All sorts of things’ or ‘Nothing,’ when he was happily involved in five different activities all day," says Solomon. "With Sagely, family members don’t have to badger their loved ones about their daily activities, and they can get live, action pictures of them enjoying themselves, which speaks volumes."

Family members can’t be with their loved ones all the time, Solomon adds, but with Sagely’s help, they can make sure Mom and Dad are experiencing everything the facility offers. "We offer very resident-centric programs, and we want all our residents to be included. That’s our goal."

If Dad likes to play euchre, they will find someone to play euchre with him. If Mom loves to read, they’ll find a book club for her.

"We are committed to personalizing residents’ care, and we encourage their independence as much as possible," says Solomon. "We support an age-in-place senior living model, allowing residents to get the long-term care they need right where they are."

The Sheridan at Mason is located at 5373 Merten Drive, Mason, OH 45040. For more information, call 513.898.0621 or visit www.seniorlifestyle.com.
