Yahoo has revamped its desktop email service with new AI-driven features designed to streamline email and task management. The updates include AI-generated summaries of emails, which provide concise overviews with bulleted lists of proposed tasks and actions.

The summaries are accessible under the Priority inbox tab, which uses AI to highlight the most important messages according to Yahoo, similar to Gmail's approach.

In addition to the summary feature, Yahoo is introducing quick action buttons within the inbox. This would allow users to swiftly perform tasks such as adding events to a calendar, checking in for flights, and tracking packages. Meanwhile, a new persistent "starred view" panel also enables users to quickly access their most important tasks.

Furthermore, Yahoo Mail users can now link their inboxes to other email accounts, including Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, and AOL, allowing them to manage all their emails from a single platform.

“People are craving better ways to streamline the daily activities that often bog us down, like managing multiple email accounts, sorting out their schedules, reading through long messages, and tracking orders. The new features we’re launching are aimed at making life that much easier for anyone that relies on email,” said Kyle Miller, Yahoo Mail’s VP of Product.

The features are now available to new users in the US and have been rolled out to existing US users on an opt-in basis. They will come to Yahoo Mail’s mobile app in the future.
