Warner Music Group (WMG) has signed a landmark partnership with AI music platform Suno, marking one of the most significant alliances yet between a major record label and a leading generative-AI company. The agreement resolves prior litigation between the two firms and establishes a new framework designed to protect artists while expanding creative possibilities powered by artificial intelligence.
Under the deal, Suno will integrate licensed music models built in collaboration with WMG, combining the label’s artist development expertise with Suno’s rapidly growing AI-creation tools. The partnership aims to enable new forms of music creation, fan interaction, and discovery — all while ensuring artists and songwriters are compensated and remain in full control of how their identity and work are used.
“This landmark pact with Suno is a victory for the creative community that benefits everyone,” said WMG CEO Robert Kyncl, noting that the agreement adheres to Warner’s principles of licensed AI use, revenue alignment, and artist opt-in for the use of their “name, image, likeness, voice, and compositions” in new AI songs.
