Visa has unveiled a suite of AI-driven technologies in the Philippines as part of its new Visa Intelligent Commerce initiative, aiming to enhance digital payment experiences in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing digital economies.
Backed by over $3 billion in global AI and data infrastructure investments, Visa’s latest offerings are designed to make transactions more secure, seamless, and intelligent across the region.
“The continuously growing digital payment sector in the Philippines makes it a prime environment for technological innovation,” says Jeffrey Navarro, Visa Philippines country manager.
A key feature of the rollout is Visa Pay, a service that enables participating wallets — such as local partner Maya — to transact with any Visa-accepting merchant globally, supporting in-store, online, and scan-to-pay purchases. Visa Pay is set to launch soon in the country.
Visa is also introducing its Digital Identity suite, which includes innovations like passkeys and tap-to-confirm features to reduce fraud and payment friction through smarter authentication.
The move reflects Visa’s broader push to drive secure, AI-enhanced digital commerce across Asia-Pacific, with the Philippines positioned as a key market in that strategy.
