Six AI integration industry leaders have submitted a joint letter to the U.S. House of Representatives Artificial Intelligence Task Force that highlights the need to redefine AI roles and responsibilities across the value chain. The letter was penned and submitted to the House of Representatives Task Force on Artificial Intelligence by Alteryx, Salesforce, Twilio, Box, Kyndryl, and Peraton.

The companies stressed that a new approach is necessary for accurate identification and better assignment of roles that would lead to effective AI policies. The letter asks for a clearer delineation of obligations for AI integrators, or companies that retrain, modify, and fine-tune AI models into other products and services.

The group states in the letter that current policy debates “lack the nuance necessary to capture this complexity and ignore key components of the value chain.”

Further, the group has urged the Task Force to emphasize the concerns of AI-driven companies that are integrators, as well as developers or deployers, of AI models. The letter cautions that if not focused, the US might miss recognizing the vital contributions of integrator companies that serve businesses across the country and around the world.
