Global shipping and logistics company United Parcel Service (UPS) is in ongoing talks with robotics firm Figure AI to potentially deploy humanoid robots across sections of its logistics network, according to Bloomberg.
Discussions, which began last year and have continued into recent months, aim to assess how humanoid robots might support UPS’s expanding automation initiatives. The specific tasks for the robots are still under review, and neither UPS nor Figure AI has confirmed formal deployment plans.
A video posted by Figure in February showed one of its robots sorting parcels beside a conveyor belt — hinting at possible use in logistics workflows.
A UPS spokesperson told Bloomberg the company does not comment on “specific or potential vendor partners,” but routinely tests and adopts emerging technologies—robotics included—to improve efficiency.
Figure AI, an emerging player in humanoid robotics, recently introduced Helix—a Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model that lets robots execute complex tasks through natural language commands. It also debuted “learned natural walking” for its Figure 02 robot, boosting its human-like mobility.
Already a leader in logistics automation, UPS uses robotic arms, AI-based sorting systems, and autonomous guided vehicles, and partners with firms such as Dexterity, Pickle Robot, and Dane Technologies.
