The UAE has launched a specialized Chief AI Officers’ Training Programme aimed at equipping government leaders with the tools to drive the country’s artificial intelligence agenda.

The initiative is led by the Office of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, in partnership with the University of Birmingham in Dubai.

Designed for federal government entities, the two-week executive course blends academic theory with hands-on training. It covers cutting-edge AI trends, governance frameworks, ethical and regulatory issues, and real-world applications across sectors such as healthcare, cybersecurity, energy and urban development.

Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Omar Sultan Al Olama says the programme underscores the UAE’s commitment to cultivating tech-savvy leadership capable of shaping the future. “Empowering leaders with the right tools and knowledge drives a culture of positive transformation,” he notes.

Participants were nominated following the UAE Cabinet’s approval of the Chief AI Officer role, championed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The programme supports national goals outlined in the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031 and the broader “We the UAE 2031” vision to cement the country’s position as a global AI leader.
