The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance joint investments in artificial intelligence (AI). The agreement is part of Malaysia’s Madani Artificial Intelligence (MMAI) initiative and aims to leverage AI and advanced data analytics to address critical national priorities.
The partnership will focus on enhancing community safety, national security, and operational efficiencies, reflecting the growing importance of AI in governance and public service.
The MoU outlines cooperation in several strategic domains, including:
AI-driven national security systems: Development of advanced AI tools for national safety and defense.
High-performance computing data centers: Establishing cutting-edge infrastructure for AI research and applications.
National security operations centers: Creating hubs to enhance response capabilities and surveillance.
Enhanced customs and tax collection: Using AI to improve efficiency and reduce leakages in revenue systems.
Operational efficiencies: Applying advanced analytics to optimize government processes.
The MoU was officially signed by Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment, and Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Malaysia’s Minister of Home Affairs.
