Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, announced the launch of Reliance Intelligence, a new subsidiary aimed at building India’s AI backbone through large-scale infrastructure and global partnerships.
At the company’s 48th annual general meeting, Ambani said the venture will create a national AI platform spanning enterprise tools and services. “Reliance Intelligence will create a home for world-class researchers, engineers, designers, and product builders, so that ideas become innovations and applications, providing solutions to India and the world,” he said.
To kick off the initiative, Reliance has teamed up with Google Cloud to establish a dedicated AI cloud region in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The facility will power AI-driven services for enterprises, developers, and government institutions, supported by Reliance Jio’s vast telecom network and the conglomerate’s energy assets. “This is only the beginning,” Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in a video message.
Reliance also announced a joint venture with Meta to build enterprise AI solutions for India and select global markets. The venture, valued at ₹8.55 billion ($100 million) with a 70/30 ownership split, will use Meta’s Llama-based platform to offer AI-as-a-service across sales, marketing, customer service, finance, and IT. “Through this joint venture, we’re putting Meta’s Llama models into real-world use,” said Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025.
