Sutherland, a global business and digital transformation firm, has joined forces with the Philippines government to establish a dedicated AI Academy aimed at equipping Filipinos with in-demand artificial intelligence skills.
The initiative, backed by local educational institutions and provincial governments, will provide industry-aligned, hands-on training for roles ranging from AI specialists and prompt engineers to cybersecurity professionals. Target sectors include fintech, healthcare, and emerging digital industries.
“This initiative is a vital step toward our goal of building a digitally resilient and inclusive workforce,” says President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., stressing the importance of preparing citizens for an economy increasingly shaped by AI.
Sutherland Chairman and CEO Dilip Vellodi describes the partnership as a commitment to “build a lasting ecosystem for digital skills and innovation” that supports industries, uplifts communities, and drives economic growth.
By aligning public and private sector efforts, the AI Academy is expected to strengthen the Philippines’ position as a leader in AI-driven workforce development and fuel long-term economic growth.
