Rising competition from major rival like Apple, Samsung, Google

Google was one of the first companies to incorporate generative AI into phones with Google Pixel, facilitating features like Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Live Translate, and more. Whether navigating with Google Maps, editing photos with Magic Eraser, or using Google Lens to identify objects, AI is the driving force behind these features.

Recently, Samsung came up with new AI capabilities branded as 'Galaxy AI’, powered by Google. This will include integration with Google's generative AI features through Gemini, including the 'Circle to Search' and 'Live Translate' functionalities.

This partnership extends to using Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 for tasks like summarization in Samsung applications. Samsung's collaboration with Google extends beyond AI, with partnerships with Microsoft announced at CES 2024, bringing Copilot features to Galaxy phones.

Not just Samsung or Google, early this month, Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the company is actively working on generative AI software features that are expected to be released "later this year." Cook emphasized that Apple is dedicating "tremendous time and effort" to integrate AI into its software platforms, including iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

Implications and considerations taken by OPPO

OPPO users can anticipate innovative features driven by Generative AI Tools, enhancing camera capabilities and user interfaces. The impact is expected to extend beyond smartphones, influencing graphic designers, content creators, and professionals in, visual and textual content fields. However, ethical considerations related to data privacy, algorithmic biases, and responsible AI deployment remain crucial challenges for OPPO’s AI Centre.
