OpenAI has unveiled ChatGPT Go, a new subscription plan designed exclusively for India, priced at ₹399 per month. Announced on Tuesday, August 19, the plan is aimed at making advanced AI tools more accessible to the company’s rapidly expanding user base in the country.
India has become ChatGPT’s second-largest market globally, with millions of students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and creators using the AI chatbot for learning, creativity, and problem-solving. With ChatGPT Go, OpenAI is introducing an entry-level tier that delivers expanded features at a fraction of the cost of its existing Plus and Pro plans.
Subscribers to ChatGPT Go will gain access to OpenAI’s most advanced model, GPT-5, with enhanced Indic language support. Compared with the free plan, Go users receive:
According to OpenAI, these upgrades are designed to broaden access to popular features without the higher costs tied to premium tiers.
The company has also enabled UPI payments for all subscription tiers for the first time, making it easier for Indian users to sign up. “We’ve been inspired by how millions of people in India use ChatGPT daily for learning, work, creativity, and problem-solving. With ChatGPT Go, we’re excited to make these capabilities even more accessible and easier to pay for through UPI,” says Nick Turley, vice president and head of ChatGPT.
