Nvidia has confirmed that CEO Jensen Huang met with former U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss U.S. technology and AI leadership, as the country navigates critical policy decisions on semiconductors.
“We appreciated the opportunity to meet with President Trump and discuss semiconductors and AI policy. Jensen and the president discussed the importance of strengthening U.S. technology and AI leadership,” an Nvidia spokesperson said.
The meeting comes just a day before Trump reiterated plans to impose tariffs on foreign semiconductor chips, computer components, and pharmaceuticals.
Speaking at the House GOP Issues Conference in Miami, Trump emphasized bringing chip manufacturing back to the U.S., stating, “We’re going to be placing tariffs on foreign productions of computer chips, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals.
