Manulife has launched a new Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence in Singapore, establishing a regional hub to accelerate the use of advanced technologies across its insurance operations and deepen client engagement.
The center is designed to embed AI throughout the insurance value chain, covering underwriting, distribution, operations, and customer interactions. Manulife said the initiative will help simplify and speed up processes while enabling more personalized advisory services, guided by a framework that emphasizes transparency, security, and responsible AI use.
Singapore was chosen for its strong digital infrastructure, mature innovation ecosystem, and regulated approach to AI deployment. As part of the expansion, Manulife plans to grow its regional AI talent base over the next three years, adding expertise in data science, AI governance, and engineering.
The insurer will also work closely with industry partners and regulators, including through the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s Pathfinder initiative, to contribute to the development of sector-wide standards for responsible AI. Learnings from the hub are expected to be extended across Manulife’s Asian markets.
