Manulife Hong Kong has signed a strategic partnership with Alibaba Cloud to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence across its operations and support the development of AI-driven solutions for the insurance sector.
Under a memorandum of understanding, the two organizations will establish a framework for responsible AI innovation, combining Manulife’s insurance expertise with Alibaba Cloud’s AI and cloud technologies. The collaboration aims to enhance customer experiences, improve operational efficiency, and drive long-term business growth while adhering to security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
A key component of the partnership is the planned creation of a joint AI hub that will focus on developing next-generation AI applications and exploring new use cases aligned with Manulife’s business priorities. Areas of focus include digital customer experiences, fraud detection, service personalization, and intelligent automation.
Manulife has already deployed AI across customer engagement, distribution support, and operational processes in Hong Kong. The company expects its enterprise-wide AI initiatives to generate more than CAD$1 billion in value by 2027.
