The General Services Administration (GSA) has published a resource guide for federal purchasers seeking generative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions and associated computing infrastructure.

“Generative AI technology will continue to evolve and we know that this resource guide should continue to evolve with it. Contracting officers will play a critical role by working closely with program and IT staff to find, source, acquire and make secure the right generative AI solutions for agencies’ needs,” Laura Stanton, Assistant Commissioner in the GSA’s Office of Information Technology Category, said.

The primary aim of this resource guide titled ‘Generative AI and Specialized Computing Infrastructure Acquisition Resource Guide’ is to aid the acquisition workforce in navigating the intricacies of procuring Generative AI technologies, working closely with relevant agency officials from various domains.

While tailored to civilian agencies' Generative AI needs, specific procurement solutions have been devised for Defense, National Security, and the Intelligence Community due to their unique requirements.

This resource guide also simplifies intricate technical IT and AI concepts to enhance comprehension for non-technologists.

“In some cases, this resource guide oversimplifies concepts for the sake of clarity. Seek support from AI, IT and data professionals when making decisions,” GSA said in a media update.
